Antoni Maiovvi - The Thorns Of Love
May 4
Antoni Maiovvi, aka Anton Maiof, aka a whole bunch of other names, might be familiar to readers of this blog; as he did the 6th Bass Music mix last summer. He actually showed up with two full length mixes, taking in film soundtracks, Italo Disco, Blaxploitation, Krautrock and whole bunch of other stuff, and it was great.
Well, this week he's released his new album 'The Thorns Of Love'. Which, funnily enough, channels most of those influences too, although it's based around the Italo stuff - and I've got to say, without bias, it's probably the best album I've heard this year. I honestly can't get enough of that analogue synth, chase-scene, over-the-top 80's emotion. It is, basically, brilliant. I won't ramble on about it, you can hear the whole thing in the following soundcloud player, so you can make your own mind up - just give track 2 a spin. At least until the lead guitar comes in. Then, you'll want to buy the CD obviously. It has been glued to the stereo in my kitchen ever since I got a promo two or three months back, and won't be leaving until at least the end of the summer...
So yeah, that's the album; if you're feeling that and want to hear more without shelling out your hard-earned just yet, you can shove an email address into the following widget and get his latest DJ mix. Or you can head over to the Caravan website and do it there.
