BUILD001 Is Here!!!
November 20
Right, well excited about this!
After years of wanting to get something like this started, but never feeling like the time was quite right, I've finally bitten the bullet and, in conjunction with Multiverse (home of the labels Tectonic, Kapsize, Earwax and Caravan), Build Recordings is go.
The aim of the label is to focus on what has fundamentally always been the main things I find fascinating and exciting about dance music - interesting drums, and plenty of bass. So this will probably mean taking in things like the outer fringes of dubstep ('future garage'), Funky, bashment-type riddims - stuff that is 100% dancefloor, but hopefully not 'by-the-numbers' dancefloor.
The first release is me and I.D. with 'Tongue Riddim', and Funky main-man Roska reworks it for the flip. Check the riddims out here:
Boomkat made it one of their recommended releases this week and this is what they had to say about it:
The Multiverse family of labels has already given the world Tectonic, Kapsize, Earwax and Caravan, so the latest imprint to join its ranks, 'Build', comes to you with considerable pedigree. Run and curated by renowned bass operator Baobinga, the label has been conceived with the future-garage/UK Funky axis in mind and its opening plate delivers 2 tracks of partified and deadly low-end functions. Baobinga & ID handle the controls for "Tongue Riddim", a socafied bubbler complete with nicely staggered claps and the right balance of peaktime vibes and bass menace. Man of the moment Roska takes over the flipside with another sharpened variation, stripping elements back to a bare-bones battle between minimal soca patterns and a humungous one-note bassline that will just destroy you at the right volume. Can the man do no wrong? Deadly!
Which is almost certainly the nicest thing they've ever said about me :)
As well as copping it at Boomkat, it should be out in most of the main shops right about now. I would of course recommend you hit up Rooted Records, assuming you don't have a shop near you and are having to go mail order. Digital should follow in about a week to ten days.
Biggups!
