Dr Auratheft

Just a quick blog to mention this guy, Siebe Thiessen aka the sometime Dr Auratheft. He's a Dutch guy who specialises in doing mixes and podcasts of different world musics - from Tamil Hip Hop to Kuduro and Mento. Not everything is up for archive on his blog, which is a real shame; there are a couple of great mixes that I've lost over the years and wouldn't mind again (must email him at some point) but have a sift through here and get educated, from obscure Sun Ra stuff to Cumbia and compilations of Marcus Garvey's stuff. His blog is here and it would appear he's on some kind of hiatus but there are enough archives to work through for now! It's great, I haven't seen many people with such wide ranging musical knowlege.
I've also uploaded one of my favourite old mixes of his which is no longer on his site - it's called Urban Latino from about 2005, and incorporates Reggaeton, Baile and loads more. Listen to it and play spot the Crookers sample!
(anyone out there still have the awesome Slacker Trombone mix? can you upload it?)
