I reckon this mix is a) sick and b) a really good example of how the Purple Wow sound of Joker, Gemmy and Guido (who is repped here with two wonderfully melodic dubs) is going to link with stuff like Starkey and Shortstuff and show a way for dubstep to develop beyond Brutal Electro mid-range heavy metal, or ultra-minimal cleverness (neither of which are bad things on their own, but entire sets thereof can lack a bit of variety). In a way its kind of going back to some aspects of grime, namely synth-led melodies, but using that as a place to go way forward and abstract. I also like the energy in the beats, which have a bit of a garage-energy to them without being Burial-lite. I'm thinking tracks like 'A Rustling' by Shortstuff, which sounds well good in the mix - had slept on that release somewhat, might have to go back and grab it from Rooted. The track at 19:43 is sick too... 

Anyway, I was hoping to catch up with Akkachar for a chat about the mix but I didn't get chance due to mad hecticness at this end, so in this case we'll have to just let the music do the talking - no bad thing when it's this good. And we will also be dipping back in the Dutch scene in a little while with an interview with Nicon from Subway ;)
