After months & months of tracking him down, which has been very hard cause Mr D has been very busy recently,  we finally managed to hook up, made an interview and asked for a special mix for the blog. Here you go !!!
http://www.myspace.com/vonddd

1 - Von D could you introduce yourself; where are you from? How long have you been making music for?

I was born into the multi cultural melting pot of the Paris suburbs, in a town called Cergy. I've been making music for 12 years, I actually started when I was 14 yrs-old. I started playing drums and at the same time making electronic music thanks to some more experienced friends who had a home-studio in my area.

2 - You started making dubstep under Von D almost 2 years ago now but what kind of music were you making before?
What's your musical background ?

I mostly used to play funk and reggae music on drums. As far as electronic music goes, I used to make many genres, hip-hop, ambient, breakcore, house, jungle...I remember I was the only one to make jungle music in my friend's circle and in my area.

Nobody at this time would really know anything about electronic music. Generally, I wouldn't really think about making a genre but just making music.

3 - What was the first electronic music record you ever bought?  Tell us the story.

I don't remember if it really was the first record I bought but the first one that really hit me was Photek "Modus Operandi" record. The record I had was a promo copy...I didn't even know what it was at that time! I've listened to it hundreds of times and I still do.

4 - What were you trying to do with the mix?  Is it like one of your club sets?

This mix is more a way to introduce the productions I make. This set was really made for the blog though I also play this kind of tracks in clubs. When I play in clubs I generally adapt between the audience vibe and what I feel like playing.

5 - You obviously like techno - who's your favourite producer?

I am actually more into Dub Techno, things like Basic Channel (Rhythm & Sound / Chain reaction).

6 - There's a strong detroit feel to a lot of your music, particularly in the chords used - is this a deliberate reference?

Yes it is, definitely. I love stabs and detroit chords, yum yum!

7 - 'Show Me' in collaboration with UK female singer Phephe has been one of the biggest tune on the scene recently, played by all the big names and it's been also remixed by Skream. You've got a new tune with her call The Sunlight, could you tell us more about Phephe? How do you met & start working together?

Phephe is from Birmingham, she's a singer and also a dancer. I bumped onto her myspace by accident and spent 2 weeks checking her tunes on her profile everyday! Then I contacted her because she really has the kind of voice I've been looking for. So she told me to send her a track over.
I sent her an interlude that I had previously turned into a real track. Then she recorded her vocals and when I received it I just loved it!
I'd never imagined the success this track has now.

8 - Do you think London is still the global centre for dubstep?

No I don't, I think Dubstep is worldwide now.

9 - Do you think there is a typically French style of dubstep?

Not at all ... I think we are all making diferent music here and nobody tries to copy another producer.we just made the music that we feel at the moment.

10- Do you even see yourself as making dubstep?

I see myself as making Bass Music.

11 - You have loads of forthcoming releases on differents labels, skream signed that collab with Riskotheque (charted by myself few months ago here) on disfigured dubs, could you tell us what's in the pipeline then ? Show me is still not out yet ?
