Free Dutch Uncles remix

As some of you will know if you read my previous post, or follow us through the usual social media, during the month of July, we, HeavyFeet, worked on (& completed!) a project called 'Manchester : Remixed'. The project was done in conjunction with BBC Introducing for a one off 'BBC Introducing Remixed' show, and we set ourselves the rather arduous, but thoroughly stimulating task of remixing eight, current Manchester-associated artists (bands and songwriters), over one month.
The project concluded with a 90 minute broadcast (pictured above) of all eight remixes (which can be heard here) on BBC Introducing in Manchester, with James and I having a chat in between each track as they were aired, discussing all matter of things from what makes a good remix, to how we tackled the project, to how we time managed it, etc. Anyhow, each Wednesday, starting this week, for eight weeks, we'll be releasing one of the free-to-download remixes.
What we would say is this, don't expect eight club bangers, lots of heavy bass etc. The idea behind doing the project was inspired by many of the remixes that came out of Manchester in the late 80s/early 90s, I'm talking the influence of Arthur Baker, Andy Weatherall, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, etc, which essentially took the song, and made it more accessible for the dancefloor. This, in essence, is what we've attempted to do throughout the project.
This week's free download from 'Manchester : Remixed' is the HeavyFeet remix of Dutch Uncles' 'X-O', which last week saw support on BBC Radio 1 from Huw Stephens, which is always very nice to receive. Check out the original of 'X-O' below:
