Mochipet Madness

June 11

This turned up in the inbox earlier tonight.  By which I don't mean an anoraked gentleman spewing forth beams of light, I mean info about, and tunes by, this man: Mochipet.   I was interested to begin with; the tunes are cool - and if you're of an impatient nature you may wish to skip this bluster, scroll down a few lines and grab the free tune, like the mp3 glutton you know you really are.   His tracks are somewhat in the West Coast glitch-hop kind of style, and I noted that they were mastered by one Bill Bless.  Who used to produce under the name of SOTEG, and has gone rather quiet of late.  He too was rather electro-glitch oriented in his productions, and used to inspire some pretty devoted fans (to put it mildly).  Anyone know what he's up to now?

Anyway, I then noticed, while perusing Mochipet's pretty natty line in press shots (moderately jealous, I have to admit) that this pic was taken in Prague - where I was living for a while recently.  It's in a small street directly behind the coolest church ever.  It seems he did a photoshoot and loads of other cool stuff with an artistic collective called Lunchmeat.  Have a sift through their site, there are loads more cool pics on there.  Really must do a blog post on the Prague scene one of these days/weeks.

So, not at all because he had his photo taken in Prague, I think you should look out for his album 'Master P On Atari' - due soon on Daly City Records - and, oh go on then, download this free tune too.  Enjoy!

Bill bless is one half of Skeetaz alongside Kilowatts. They are the business - check out their album 'Off' from a while back on Proboscis. Seeriously heavy glitch in many styles.

Bil has defo been quiet on the production front of late, but he played the Sonic Bloom festival a month ago here in Colorado. Here's a 2.5 min video clip from the set: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va36a-rTzko

blessrecords.com says "the life mechanism.2009 purpose. what, of." so I'm guessing (and hoping/praying) that's a cryptic reference to the new album he's dropping this year.

Be interesting to know what moniker he uses for the release.

Anybody else ever pick up on the strong Judeo/Christian influences in Bil's taxonomy, ie what he names himself and (some of) his tracks?
