Weekend Mixes

April 9

Summer is here at last! Well, we've got a short respite from the rain here in Bristol, and that'll do for me. So, here are a few mixes to get you through your hopefully sunny weekend.

First up, Om Unit's new mix for Dummy Mag. It's based around proper electro, I'd say, and features old detroit, new Joy Orbison, even Vivaldi. Download here or stream below:

Then we've got Moderat, who need no introduction. This is their mix for Clashmag, and it ranges from Emptyset and Monolake to Sbtrkt and, yes, Joy Orbison. No escaping him today, I'm afraid.

Finally, I'm going to big up a mix from a local dubstepper, Phaeleh. It's the new Electronic Explorations mix, and it's a 30 minute mix of dubs from him. He's a remarkably versatile producer, so you should check this out:

Jus Like Music - Oscillations Part 1

I've just been checking out this free album from Jus Like Music records. It's a compilation on a downbeat, hiphop/wonky kind of tip, featuring the talents of people like Om Unit and T.Hemingway amongst others. Been really enjoying it actually - for me it stops just shy of being annoyingly wonky, and keeps a head-nodding groove throughout. Stream here or just go straight to the download page:

Mizz Beats - My World (Om Unit remix)

Missed this one when it went up the other week, but it's really good and available for all y'all for free, in 320 format, so it's worth a post IMO.

Om Unit's remix of Mizz Beats - it's kind of a rolling breaksy/funky style of things, crossover biz. I'm getting quite excited about all the tunes that sit in this middle ground, and this one does it better than most:
