Founded in 2009, PAPAYA REPUBLIK fuses Afro-Caribbean rhythms from Colombia with elements of jazz, funk and electronic music.
The band's first CD is an eclectic genre-bending collection of songs ranging from a classic bolero to infectious champeta, cumbia, chandé and porro-infused tracks featuring satirical lyrics that speak of Colombian reality.

This new EP features 2 remixes from Krak in Dub and Charles Tox, founders of Parisian electronic label Galletas Calientes Records, and the original version of "Culo E' Vaina Jopo", one of the main hits from Papaya Republik.Charles Tox remix is a strong tropical champeta-like rhythm, decomposing samples, complete with wobbling synths, I really love that remix and it's a banger on a dancefloor !! Krak In Dub remix is tuff aswell in a jungle style !

Black Samurai ft Daddy Freddy & The Ragga Twins Remixes

Initially released back in 2004, "Information Critic" is a bumping rocksteady/hip hop track from Leeds MC Black Samurai, featuring UK dancehall legends The Ragga Twins & Daddy Freddy. Despite picking up radio plays at the time, it only found its way into a handful of DJs boxes, one of whom was NICE UP! founder Shepdog who has re-licensed the track and commissioned new remixes for 2011.
Big remixes ina jungle, moombahton & reggae hip hop style by the likes of Benny Page, JStar and The Heavy out on Nice Up Records (label who released the wicked Sofa by Pupajim & The Nextmen) on Monday.

Henry and Louis ft. Pacey - Everyman different (Mungo's Hi Fi Remix)

New Mungo's Hifi release on their imprint Scotch Bonnet, out January 24th 2011 on 12" everywhere !
Massive tune once again from the glasgow camp, been hammering this one in my sets a lot recently and it always got a big crowd reaction !

Mungo's Hi Fi remixing "Everyman does his thing a little way different" taken from the album Time will Tell by Henry and Louis meets Blue and Red (aka RSD).
The vocal is by Pacey, a reworking of Errol Dunkley's original.
Time will tell came about following a chance encounter with UB40 in Jamaica, who linked up a legendary recording session with top artists like Johnny clarke, Tony Tuff and Willie Williams.
Mungo's Hi Fi have taken the vocal and crafted a one a way riddim track bringing it bang up to date with a heavyweight production and a bassline you can feel as well as hear !

Galletas Calientes 06 - Systema Solar

June 8

New release on french label Galletas Calientes run by Krak In Dub & Charles Tox from Paris.
This time they choose to release a track from Systema Solar, a musical collective from Colombia. Track is call "Quien es el patron" which is one of their main hits, first released as the soundtrack of a Colombian TV program. Systema Solar released their first album in 2009 and gonna be touring all over europe this summer, dont miss cause they're huge on stage !

The release comes with 2 remixes, first from Krak In Dub who is taking the path of minimal & abstract hip hop with blips and glitches all the way, and second from Charles Tox on a more dancefloor oriented one, with devastating synths and basslines.
