I mentioned it on here a while back, but you should go and check Si Begg's project '24 Bit Error Correction'.  You can either download the music for free, or get the whole physical product, box set and so on, for a contribution of your hard-earned.   So, go and check that.  You might also be interested to note that he's just put up for download the remix parts to one of the tracks ('I Do Not Dream') along with a Scuba SCB.  All for the low, low price of £free.

I'm embedding the Scuba mix below; so have a listen to it but also check out Si's soundcloud page where you can get yourself all the remix parts too.

a bunch of free Si Begg tunes

December 17

Pooping-topper

Being the pimping baller that I am, I was relaxing on an Easyjet flight the other day reading their in-flight magazine and came across this tradition in Spain - apparently in Catalonia it has somehow become traditional to have a little statue of a peasant curling one off in your nativity scene.  And now this has expanded to the point where people are making them in all sorts of shapes, and caganer enthusiasts now collect little figurines of Obama and the Pope baring their arses and laying some cable.  Apparently they didn't have one in the 2005 official Barcelona nativity scene and all the media and public kicked off about it.  He was back in 2006.

Anyway, this whole 'free tunes' business continues apace, as Si Begg gives us all an early christmas pressie in the form of 4 new tracks over at his website today.  I don't draw these things together to imply that he's therefore somehow a European peasant dropping a log in close proximity to the saviour of mankind, I just thought it was a funny story.

So anyway.  Si Begg's website.  Now.  Get free tunes.  Back of the net.

Free Tunes: Si Begg '24 Bit Error Collection' EP

September 1

Sibegg

It would seem that bass overlord Si Begg is somewhat disillusioned with the music industry as it is today. So, rather than the usual avenues, he has chosen to give away his new four track EP in full 24 bit wav quality - which, as I'm sure you'll agree, is rather nice of him.

See the following quote from his website:

"This E.P. Is free. Yes that's right, free. (You can buy the limited edition "hand-made in Hackney" box set, but that's not compulsory) All tracks are yours to download and distribute as you see fit. You can copy them, burn them on a CD, blog them, host them yourself, give them to your mum, whatever you want. Music in the public domain. Or put another way: Make. Upload. Share. Inspire. Crisps.

Major labels and the bodies that represent them, such as the BPI in the UK and the RIAA in the USA would have us believe that sharing music is destroying music and the musicians that create it. We contend that the truth is, this cartel of major record companies, distributors and publishers have been systematically fucking musicians and the people that love and buy music for about 50 years. Creating, amongst other things, huge profits for shareholders, a rigorous, brutally industrialised method of music production, Hannah Montana and an inherently average, uninspiring, mainstream music scene. This traditional industry model is so close to death that we dare not entertain it here. Instead we leave it up to you to help determine how far this E.P. travels."

Some might say that is controversial. What do you think? Let me know via the comments.

So, yeah. Four free fresh Si Begg tracks via this link. You really can't say fairer than that.

Hold tight for an exclusive bmb interview with Mr Begg, and hopefully if he has the time an exclusive DJ mix as well...

J.
