HeavyFeet ft. Bubbz - I Like It (the final free single!)

HeavyFeet ft. Bubbz - I Like It
(Original, Club Dub, Skinnz & I.D. Remix)
Stamp! Beats - Release Date: 07.03.11

Drum roll please.... the final single from the '12x12' project is here!

The year long process has seen us deliver twelve individual singles over twelve months (beginning in April 2010), featuring ten unique vocalists and (so far) nineteen remix artists. 'I Like It' is a 90bpm double time skanker, focusing on heavy, repetitive bass, crispy drums and cheeky guitar cuts, whilst Bubbz (of Bubbz & The Black Notes, and previous HeavyFeet '12x12' single, 'Young & Dumb') delivers some of the young year's most hilarious lyrics, with an equally fun flow.

Our Club Dub switches the tempo to the 130bpm mark, taking slamming 4/4 drums, rolling subs, tuned percussion, choice vocal chops and a heavy dub middle eight, concocting a heavy main room house vibe, similar to that of our remix of Roisin Murphy 'Momma's Place', which we did last year. Bass Music Blog's main men, Skinnz & I.D, take the shennanigans up a level further, reaching for the 140bpm bracket, incorporating loopy synths, emotional leads and soft chord patterns, coupled with the occasional Bubbz vocal drop. I've gotta say, this remix shows levels of epicness previously unheard!

The journey of '12x12' can now be read at heavyfeetmusic.com where a weekly blog update is underway, putting the label model of the '12x12' online, for people to utilise as they see fit. The concept has been simple; avoid the traditional album format and allow fans more regular access to fresh musical offerings and exciting club friendly remixes, whilst highlighting the initial foundation that the project was based upon: The importance of direct-to-fan communication, high quality production and regular output in this new digital era is paramount.

There's been some great support on this final single, with Skream, Todd Edwards, Crookers, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), AC Slater (and many more), all declaring their love for it.

HeavyFeet ft. Jon Rice - Raise a Glass (free download)

HeavyFeet ft. Jon Rice - Raise a Glass
(Original, Club Mix, Q45 Remix, Diesler Remix)
Stamp! Beats - Release Date: 07.02.11

Well, we're 11 singles into the 12 of the newly (finally!) named, '12x12' project. (The '12 singles over 12 months' was getting a bit longwinded to be honest.) As we've been working with Mr Jon Rice quite a lot over this last year, we thought we'd invite him back (he featured on 'Saving Me', our 4th single) to vocal our penultimate single. 'Raise a Glass' is a contemporary take on the classic Chicago house sound that we've always sought inspiration from, and includes bumping bass, skippy beats, uplifting synth chords and hooky vocals.

Taking these elements one step further, and drawing influence from the 2 Bears (Raf Daddy & Joe Goddard from Hot Chip), we open the track up with a simple club beat and then lead into a suitably developed song, letting epic synths sweep into the chorus section alongside Jon’s deeper lyrical side, giving the breakdown a lovely hands-in-the-air moment to what is an otherwise rather vocally sparse, club influenced number. Our Club Mix takes the house vibes up to a peak time level, reaching for loud, tribal percussion, a deep rolling sub line, select vocal snippets and subtle strings, dropping a main room friendly house track with all the right components to keep the dancefloor full.

Australia's Q45 (owner of the great house label, Yes Yes Records) ramps things up with an all out 90's-tinged house affair, manipulating the original chord stabs and morphing vocal cuts amongst a ravey bass and classic drum machine style beats. Diesler rounds off the package with slow burner of a broken beat re-rub, choosing heavy Latin-influenced drums and a deep, pulsating bass to create an astoundingly intense build up, which conjures up a chaotic yet soulful take on the original.

Lots of support and appreciative talk from the likes of Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), Zed Bias, Lars Moston, Black Noise/Aquasky and Act Yo Age on this release.

HeavyFeet ft. Hannah T - Just Fall
(Original, Club Dub & Udachi Remix)
Stamp! Beats - Release Date: 06.12.10

Welcome to our ninth (and last) single of 2010... Striking melodic synths, rising strings, classic pianos, old skool breakbeats and a killer vocal make for an exciting Magnetic Man style opening to the rather epic single package for '
Just Fall.’ The Club Dub showcases a previously hidden sound from HeavyFeet, taking in a dark, dirty sub line that grows and fizzes with each drop whilst combining classic 2-Step beats and contemporary UK garage melodic vibes, delivering a seriously heavy-hitting club mix, aimed exclusively at the dancefloor. New York's very own Udachi provides a slick club/house-meets-dubstep remix, absorbing the vibe of the original, whilst adding eccentric percussive elements, a deep unsettling synth theme and two huge drops, making for an access all areas club mix of mighty proportion.

Love and support on this release from Skream, DJ Craze, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), AC Slater, Freq Nasty, Aquasky and many more.

STMP008: Parking Meter ft. Serocee (free download)

November 1

Media_httpimg209image_fwzam

HeavyFeet ft. Serocee - Parking Meter
(Original, Club Mix & Edu K Remix)
Stamp! Beats - Release Date: 01.11.10

This month we drop one of the joints we've been really hyped up about putting out this year!

Taking influence from bashment and the current wave of UK urban music, Serocee, number one bad man MC (who you'll know from his work with Basement Jaxx, Toddla T, Zed Bias, Warrior One - the list goes on), drops hot verse after hot verse, switching up the chorus to drop one of the most promiscuous choruses you'll have come across in some time. Instant tongue-in-cheek shout-along vibes over tough, percussive beats, squelchy bass and grimey string stabs... good time booty shaking vibes, basically.

Our Club Mix takes on thumping old skool breaks, epic synth leads and rave pianos, allowing for two momentous bassline drops to follow each breakdown. We'd certainly like to say this one's a guaranteed dancefloor carnage causer. Edu K brings influence from the white washed walls and high ceilings of his new Berlin based abode, jamming together techy drum sounds, a driving, monotonous bassline and blasts of white noise, making for a sharp, snappy mainroom club affair with a twist, courtesy of Serocee’s vocals.

Love and support on this release from Diplo, Zed Bias, Dre Skull, Bassline Smith, Malente, Rack N Ruin, CRST and many more.

STMP007: Last Two People ft. Rod Hotly & Kid Bliss (free download)

October 4

Media_httpimg521image_baicb

HeavyFeet ft. Rod Hotly & Kid Bliss - Last Two People
(Original, Club Dub, DCUP Remix & Two Fresh Remix)
Label: Stamp! Beats - Release Date: 4th October 2010

Dropping arguably our most radio friendly single to date, distorted guitars, huge synth stabs and monster drums become the flavour of this energetic urban/hip-hop number. Delivering a slick combination of sung hooks and emceed flows, vocals from Rod Hotly (formerly of The Real Dolls) and Kid Bliss help take the beat up to the next level. The Club Dub jumps onto the dancefloor in trademark HeavyFeet style, focusing on boomy, effected drum hits, crazy build ups, minimal vocal use and uplifting 90’s piano patterns.

Man of the moment, DCUP, fresh from his recent UK No.1 single ‘We No Speak Americano’ (with Yolanda Be Cool), goes in on his signature disco house sound, featuring full vocals, funky electronic bass, swollen 80’s synth hits and a drum groove that instantly reminds you of Armand Van Helden/Duck Sauce. Fellow Aussies, Two Fresh, provide one of our favourite club mixes of a Stamp! Beats release yet, with a massive, punked-up jungle sound!

Love and support on this release from Treasure Fingers, Black Noise, Deekline, Udachi and many more.

STMP006: Are You Dumb? ft. Miski (free download)

September 6

Media_httpimg812image_fjdbu

HeavyFeet ft. Miski - Are You Dumb?
(Original, Club Dub & Dre Skull Remix)
Release Date: 06.09.10 - Stamp! Beats

So, today our 6th single of 2010 drops, this month on a hip-hop-meets-grime-meets-dubstep slant.

'Are You Dumb?' reaches for the 140bpm zone and stamps out a fresh, urban footprint from the HeavyFeet stable. With the original featuring MC'd verses and a catchy sung chorus, a pulsating, growly bass and choppy hip-hop club beats, it makes for a strong start to the single package... without you knowing what's coming! The Club Dub also enters the 140bpm tempo bracket, however this time with sparse vocal use, a distinctly deep, dubstep-focused bassline, regularly switching into a neat, driving 4/4 section, complete with hooky synths and sinister stabs. Straight off a plane from Jamaica and into his New York studio, dancehall producer Dre Skull brings proceedings to a close with a foot stomping, juke-meets-dubstep remix, tackling roughed up 808 drums, a half time verse and crazy pitch builds in one of the most out there remixes seen on a Stamp! Beats release so far.

Love and support on this release from the likes of Crookers, Freq Nasty, Rack 'n' Ruin, Malente, Cutline and many more. Mixmag even gave it a 5/5... anyway, enough back patting, enjoy!

STMP005: 'We Came To Party' ft. Kovas (Free Download)

August 2

Media_httpimg715image_ccugm

HeavyFeet ft. Kovas - We Came To Party
(Original, Club Mix & Tom Stephan Remix)
Available now on Stamp! Beats

Jumping straight on the summer party vibes, ‘We Came To Party’ is our 5th single (of 12) for the year, featuring none other than the bubbling starlet that is Brooklyn-based producer, songwriter and vocalist, Kovas, who has recently completed remix work and co-production for the likes of Will-i-am (ft. Usher), Justin Timberlake, Ciara and M.I.A.

With bold, edgy synth lines and big, beefy kick drums, the Original Mix delivers a party orientated hip-hop vibe on the verses with an uplifting chorus (featuring the talented Hannah Talbot on backing vocals). Our own Club Mix goes all out tropical, featuring wacky tuned percussion, big room friendly, hands-in-the-air pianos and plenty of growling sub bass on the drops. Tom Stephan, a Pacha NYC resident and one of our favourite house producers, steps up to the remix plate to deliver a huge club mix complete with select dubbed out vocal chops, driving bass stabs, white noise bursts and a humongous kick drum!

STMP004: 'Saving Me' ft. Jon Rice (Free Download)

July 5

Media_httpimg806image_aefeh

HeavyFeet ft. Jon Rice - Saving Me
(Original, Club Dub & Black Noise Remix)
Available now on Stamp! Beats

Broken Beat! Remember that? Well, we thought we'd try it out for size again on ‘Saving Me’, our fourth single of the year. If you dig your pulsating, chromatic synth chords, chunky, live drum breaks and traditional broken beat instrumentation (electric pianos, vibes, marimbas etc) then this might well be your thing, with the added bonus of Jon Rice (recently compared to London vocal starlet Ben Westbeech) belting out a wonderfully simple, jazzy vocal hook over the top of all the musical niceness. As always we've done our own Club Dub which sorta takes on bashment, funky and breaks with our good old heavy drum sound and ever present sub bass. Southern Fried Records’ men of the moment, Black Noise, are on the remix tip, and deliver a suitably styled summer anthem, complete with sampled disco vibes, funky club drums and select cuts from Rice’s catchy vocal line. One word... Ibiza!

The original mix is available to download for free below, check out the Club Dub and Black Noise remix too. DJ support on this release comes from the likes of Congorock, MJ Cole, Edu K, Santiago & Bushido, Phonat, The Freestylers and many more...

STMP003: 'Young & Dumb' ft. Bubbz (Free Download)

June 7

Media_httpimg9imagesh_chrjh

HeavyFeet ft. Bubbz - Young & Dumb
(Original, Club Dub & Nick Thayer Remix)
Available now on Stamp! Beats

So, here we are, the third monthly single from us this year... exciting!

Amidst old-skool hip-hop beats, a catchy melody line and a rolling, laid back bassline, Bubbz (as featured last week on BMB as part of a new Puma advert) drops one of his finest trademark tongue in cheek vocals yet, encouraging smiles and summer time fun all round. The Club Dub encompasses stripped back Dutch house style drums, repetitive synth hooks and choice cuts of vocal over a pounding sub bass. Dance music’s favourite ex-pat, Nick Thayer (whose super-strong album has just dropped on Passenger Records), rounds off the package with a storming main room mix, featuring a thumping, garagey drum groove, injected amongst snippets of the original vocals and melody, this time with the addition of one of the nastiest, heaviest basslines heard this side of 2010.

The original mix is available to download for free below, check out the Club Dub and Nick Thayer remix too, great DJ support from the likes of Tom Stephan, MJ Cole, Larry T, Zed Bias and Scottie B
