the bass music chart; july
July 7
RIghto, tis time for the July bassmusicblog charts, your one stop shop for what's hot, cock. Also a picture of some dogs in a boat.
"I like it because Boomkat says people who like my stuff should buy this record. It's also megafunky and has a wall of bass underneath the riddim. I'm late on it because I didn't get a promo."
"This track just smells of summer and to topple that its considerably better than most of the records that we're hearing big so-called producers trying to pull out the bag that sound like they were made in the 90's with an Atari and a Juno. Ravey summer vibes with a vocal sample we haven't managed to place yet. Big."
Atomic Hooligan: Jay Z - D.O.A (Death Of Autotune)
"No ID back at it on the beat, with a strong message from Jay. This is Frank Sinatra at the opera."
"It makes me want to grind emotionally with the one chick in the club that likes Busta Rhymes and Tolstoy.... in bed. Hot. Guido 'got next', on the realz."
"Its summer, and it gets steamy, sweaty, and hot. Fuck the air conditioning and embrace the summer heat. Thats where this track comes in. Hip shaking, head spinning, music to wring your shirt out to." Editors note: 2 months in a row for this top tip!
Rico Tubbs: Ciara feat. Missy: Work
"Yeah haters it's chart pop (hopefully) but just the kind we need. Bouncy electro beat with sinister chords & arpeggios. Best possible fodder for tons of blog remixes."
"I like this tune because it is nice. Anyone who says otherwise is probably one of those David Icke shape shifting reptile things. Come to think of it i have always suspected Jackson was one of them. Maybe soon we will get some answers. ANSWERS I DEMAND ANSWERS. AAAAAAAAAAAARGRGRGRRR!!!!!!"
Dub-4: Von D & Riskotheque - Like a Bird - Dub
"This tune is sick ! The collab works so well and the drop is ridiculous! Gets massive rewind every single time it gets dropped."
Baobinga: DJ Gant Man - Juke Dat Girl - Fool's Gold.
"Basic beats, chants about doing stuff to a girl from the back - but its not 150bpm! Ghetto-tech you can start a set with."
Mumdance: Mumdance & Brodinski - Eurostarr (Zombie DIsco Squad RMX) - Southern Fried
"I had a tough one with this because both High Rankin & Zombie Disco Squad have done amazing remixes of Eurostarr but I think the Zombie Disco Squad one has the edge. Just purely on the fact that High Rankin's personal hygiene is terrible and thinking about him makes me feel a little unwell in my stomach and balls."
Supremely chunky bass-driven house music that sounds a bit like Claude von Stroke doing UK funky. Killer breakdown as well.
I.D.: Von D - Coquine - Blackacre
"Never mind the minimal, this track is the perfect blend of techno and dubstep, with it's driving, filtered detroit-esque chords, and busy percussion, before switching up completely in the 2nd drop."
Editors note: A double recommendation for the French funkster!
