Weekend Mixes

September 10

High-school-exterior

Right, that's it - summer's over, back to school for all you delinquent fools.  I just did a google image search for school and for some reason was presented with this rather terrifying vision - quite what a bunch of US school buses are doing in front of a building that is clearly a Johannesburg prison I have no idea.  Still, school, prison, they're both broadly similar, except you get free food in prison and are less likely to get stabbed by Peter Rogers in a CDT lesson.

Anyway, here are some mixes for you all to enjoy this weekend.  You are still bumping the Marcus Visionary mix from this week too, yes?

First, here's the ever excellent Sonic Router with number 54 in their soaring mix series (number 53 was from Icicle and also well worth checking) - this time from Crackazat.  I hadn't really heard of him before, but am glad I have - he does a downbeat, jazzy hip hop/soul vibed sound, and this mix includes some of his own dubs.  Try it:

Bristol's Dub Boy has just got back from Outlook, and he's still bouncing around like a little kid about it.  Here's his latest tropical bass mix, made up almost entirely of dubs and exclusives - including one by a certain 'Baobinga & I.D.'.  Cor.  For some reason, Soundcloud is being weird and won't let me embed the thing (there's no 'share' button!) - so you you'll just have to follow this link -

House music has been doing some amazing things this year.  Мишкa have just put up their latest mix, and this time round it's by LVis and Bok Bok.  It's basically all flavours of house, from Agent X to Dennis Ferrer (which they manage in the space of 3 tracks).  Superb.  Follow this link for tracklist and full details:

Finally, newly arrived Bristol crew Snareophobe sent over this mix which they put together for Burningman this year.  Which is a fest I still need to make it to, one day.  It's DnB, and starts off with a couple of Bassnectar wobblers, but then proceeds into a much more varied fare, including the rarely-seen-these-days M Beat's 'Incredible'.  Which you often hear decried in mocking tones - I don't think General Levy did himself any favours by doing the running man in combats on Top Of The Pops and then sauntering round London claiming he invented jungle - but it's still a wicked track.
